CHASR
The Coalition for Healthy Air and Safe Roads (CHASR) is a volunteer-led coalition advocating for clean air and safe roads in communities impacted by highway and truck traffic. We work to advance transportation policies that prioritize public health, equity, and sustainability by reducing pollution at its source rather than expanding harm. Our mission is to protect public health and ensure that transportation policies deliver real public benefits to all impacted communities.

Our Goals:
- Protect all residents near major highways and thoroughfares from air pollution, noise, vibration, safety, traffic associated with medium and heavy-duty truck traffic.
- Promote transportation and infrastructure policies that prioritize public health, climate goals, and community well-being over trucking interests.
- Support meaningful investments that reduce pollution at its source and help to clean the air in East and West Oakland.
- Protect the health of the greater public by advocating for the continuation of the law that bans trucks over 9,000 pounds from segments of Highway 580.
- Amplify the voices of all local communities in transportation and environmental decision-making processes.
